BVD Eradication Scheme
Less than 1% of this year’s calves have tested positive for BVD so far this year
Latest figures available from Animal Health Ireland (AHI) show that of the almost 1.3 million calves tested so far this year as part of the BVD eradication scheme less than 1% have tested positive (that is, PI animals). Paul Redmond, Chairman of Prime Health Vets says: “We hope this gives re-assurance to farmers and allays fears that herds would be decimated this year because of BVD testing. The results are good news for farming and shows that the scheme is working.” Regular updates are posted on the AHI website or can be accessed here .
